1. Cute guy asks for my number. If he’s bold, he asks for my number and a date.
2. Cute guy and I go on a date. I start a mental notecard about him. This is where I find out if we have chemistry.
3. Cute guy and I go on another date. I update my mental notecard. This is where I find out if we’re compatible.
4. Cute guy turns out to be mediocre. I put rotate my lazy susan and our dates are less frequent. Or Cute guy is very engaging and I keep him toward the front.  

I generally like to have these guys book a date at least 2 days in advance. I’m a busy girl. I’ve got classes, I’ve got homework from those classes, I’ve got work, and I’ve got friends. If he can’t be considerate enough to give me some advanced notice, he’s probably not worth my time.When I do have a date, I write him down in my black book. If I’ve written him into the black book, it’s set in stone – I won’t ditch, bail, or rain check at the last minute.Some ground rules that simplify it – all personal preferences.

1. Dates are made in advance. Same day dates simply do not happen.
2. Phone conversations are kept to a minimum. Flesh out the details of the upcoming date and hang up.
3. Never go split the bill. This is universal knowledge, but I feel I should mention it. 99% of times that I’ve split the bill, the relationship has turned out to be a ‘just friends’ relationship.
4. Dates do not ask about my other dates. Period.
5. No date gets more than one date a week. If he asks for more, I get slightly irritated.
6. I don’t like to talk to a date everyday. I don’t even like to talk to a date every other day, whether it’s online or on the phone.
7. Dates that call me everyday are kicked off the lazy susan, A.S.A.P.
8. Ditching is unacceptable. No exceptions. Rescheduling isn’t acceptable either, except in case of emergency. Literally.

Of course, these rules are the rules that apply to serial dating. When things go exclusive, same day dates are perfectly acceptable, as well as picking up the bill. Honestly. If he’s my boyfriend, I don’t want to make him pay for everything. He can pick up the movies, and I’ll do dinner. So that’s the dating system. So what if I’m a serial dater? I do it nicely.
